Are you seeking a non-competitive studio where fun, fitness, and a love of dance are the top priority?
At J'Adore Dance our year long (September-May), JBallet programs featuring a combination of Ballet, Jazz and Creative Movement for ages 3-14 have been expertly programmed by artistic director Chantel Sampson (BEd, PAHC, AFLCA, PPNF). All of our classes are taught by highly trained instructors who have certified in JDance® (The foundational program for the JBallet Curriculum) and have a solid foundation in both dance technique and best teaching practices.
Our program focuses on Anne Green Gilbert’s BrainDance research and her teachings on conceptual dance education, providing a foundation for a strong where new dance concepts will be explored monthly where new dance concepts will be explored monthly. Creative dance, imagination, and expression are combined with developmentally appropriate movement, music, and ballet and jazz technique to create a class that is fun for all! This class is part of the Performance Program and will perform in Recital.
Dance is more than a series of steps. Our programs use a holistic approach that provides our young dancers with a brain compatible learning environment. Our conceptual approach to dance education ensures our students move with purpose on the dance floor and through life. Our goal is to shape each student into a Holistic Dancer who is a:
- Skilled Technician
- Critical Thinker
- Successful Collaborator
- Inventive Creator
New families joining our program will need to complete the Full-Year Placement Recommendation Form to receive a class placement prior to being able to register. You will be notified via email once your class placement has been added to your account.
Levels 1, 2 and 3: Junior JBallet Combo for ages 3-7:
Our level 1, 2 and 3 JBallet Combo classes have been designed with young children in mind! In these levels our goal is to build confidence and body awareness, inspire creativity and expression, while developing physical literacy skills in our youngest dancers. The program focuses on creative dance with a focus on fundamental dance skills that will be the base of future ballet and jazz technique. Dancers will explore a variety of music genres, images, and props to develop their dance ability. Teachers will also work with young dancers on classroom routine and etiquette, taking turns, and working with others. This program is recommended for children who have already had a positive experience in one of our parent and tot or preschool programs and are ready for a full year dance program.
Level 1: For children who will be 3 by no later than September 30
Level 2: For children who will be 4 or 5 by no later than September 30
Level 3: For children who will be 6 or 7 by no later than September 30
Levels 4 through 7: Senior JBallet Combo for ages 8-14 yrs
Our level 4 through 7 JBallet Combo classes are for kids who want the option to explore and create expressively while working on progressive dance technique. Kids in these levels will be challenged to solve movement problems, create dances using a variety choreographic structures and movement concepts, while learning developmentally appropriate ballet and jazz skills. Dancers will explore a variety of music, images and props to develop their dance ability while learning how to collaborate and work with other children. Rather than drilling technique and steps, our teachers focus on helping students develop a deeper understanding of, and an ability to create movement -- based on curricular outcomes. The class activities and exercises have been developed to ensure dancers are able to progress their dance skills in a fun environment that keeps children engaged and excited to dance and learn. This program is recommended for children who are ready to make a full year commitment to a multifaceted dance program.
All children develop in their own time, at their own pace. As such all of our classes are levelled based on a combination of appropriate age groupings and skill level. This ensures all children are in a class where they will be suitably challenged and successful. Returning families will have received a level recommendation at the end of the previous dance season.

At J’Adore Dance we view our JBallet Combo dancers as part of our community. As a community, we expect families who enter our JBallet Combo program to be ready to commit to a full year program, including a special theatre recital (Dates listed in Policy Handbook). Our theatre recital allows special friends and family members to view our dancers’ hard work and give your dancer the opportunity to perform on stage! If you are unsure if your family can make a full year commitment we highly recommend registering in one of our sessional preschool or kids programs.
Proper dance attire is important for keeping your dancer safe, allowing instructors to ensure alignment is correct, and for freedom of movement. Dancers must change out of school and play clothes into proper dance attire before coming to class. Hair must be pulled back and off the face in a bun or ponytail.
Dancewear Packages are available to purchase through J'Adore Dance. They will include a short sleeved bodysuit (6 colour choices available), tights, and ballet slippers. Dancewear will be onsite for payment and pickup that day. Dancewear Fitting Days TBA. For more information click here.
***Tights for recital are not included in your costume. Beige, black, or pink tights must be purchased at J’Adore (Revolution brand) to allow all of the dancers to match. Tights colour will be decided by the teacher during costume week.

Kate began her dance training in Edmonton at the age of 10, in a variety of styles such as ballet, jazz, acro, lyrical, and modern at Flexpointe Studios. Throughout her time dancing, she volunteered as a class assistant, which cultivated her passion to teach dance. She has trained in the advanced syllabi of RAD and ADAPT, completing multiple exams in ballet and jazz along the way.
Kate is a student at the University of Alberta, in the Dietetics Specialization, hoping to pursue a career as a public health dietitian improving the food environments of communities and schools. At the University of Alberta, she is also a member of MOD contemporary dance movement. This is a student-led, student-run dance company that allows her to explore her creativity, choreograph and create lifelong connections.
Kate is excited to join the J'Adore faculty of inspiring and passionate dance educators and to continue sharing her love of dance.
Maya began dancing at the age of 4 and has spent the last 13 years at Marr Mac Dance. During her time at there Maya trained and competed in a variety of styles such as ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, musical theatre, and acro. Throughout her time dancing, she volunteered as a teachers assistant and helped put on a private musical theatre production. While putting on this production she was given the opportunity to design and make costumes and help choreograph dances which is when she decided that she not only loved to dance but she also loved to teach dance. She has trained in the advanced syllabus of Vaganova, completing exams in ballet along the way.
Maya is a Grade 12 student at Strathcona High School where she is a part of the Scona dance program. Being a part of the Scona dance team has allowed her to explore a new side of dance that isn’t strictly competition based.
Maya is excited to pursue a career as a dance teacher at J’adore Dance and to continue to instil the love of dance into young minds.
